Intro

Like any good self-effacing Internet participant, I enter blogging claiming goals not to change the world, but to make myself a bit better of a person. (Freud, and the rest of the psychoanalytic crowd would likely say that I'm actually deluding myself. OK, fine, I'll take that up some other day).

I am currently the VP of Engineering at a small, wireless equipment development and manufacturing company. Each day, I sit smack-dab in the middle of dozens of real-life case studies of what works, and what doesn't work, in the world of technology development.

In my career, I've had access to great education, training and mentors. But I'm not perfect...far from it (back to that self-effacing thing). This blog allows (forces?) me to consider my own choices and behaviors in the work world, and how these line up with my own philosophies about technology and leadership.

So why not write this into a private journal, rather than post to the world? The honest answer is: I'm not entirely sure. For now, however, I will use the 'newbie blogger' rationale: since someone may be actually reading this, I'd better be sure there's some real thought and consideration put into my words.

And with that as my segue, it's time to get into some real thoughts...
